Dr Mutono wins Butebo county NRM party primary elections

After a week for the campaign of National Resistance Movement [NRM] to get the party flag bearer yesterday [Saturday] night Dr. Patrick Mutono, was yesterday declared as the NRM party flag bearer to contest for Butebo county parliamentary seat after winning the NRM party primaries election.
Dr Mutono was declared a winner by the NRM vice chairman electoral commission,Prof Elijah Mushemeza, at the county hall. According to Prof Mushemenza, Mr Patrick Lodoi Mutono polled 16,316votes (about 38.8 per cent) against his close rival Ms Asire Beatrice Mallinga the wife to the late minister of relief, management and disaster preparedness who was also the Member of parliament for Butebo county, scored 10,742votes (27.6 per cent).
Other candidates include Mr Richard Oseku,who polled 10,732 votes (25.5 per cent), Mr Kepher Kuchana,polled 1,141 votes (2.9 per cent), Mr Sam Kedi polled 2009 (4.8per cent), while Muzaham Musosa polled 552 votes (1.3 per cent) and Ms Monica Musenero polled 467 (1.1 percent).
The officer in charge of NRM electoral commission Prof Mushemeza called upon the entire candidate who lost in the elections to forget the past and support the NRM flag bearer.

The seat fell vacant following the sudden death of the former minister for relief and disaster preparedness, Dr Stephen Oscar Mallinga on April 12.
